I was privileged to share a message at Hoylake Chapel July 7, 2013 – just outside Liverpool, England. The church was embarking on a study of the entire book of Colossians and relating it to “real” issues! This talk focused on Colossians 3:18-4:1, specifically “Real Family.” I will definitely miss our Hoylake Chapel family now we have transitioned back to the US.
It’s with sadness that my family and I are heading back from the UK to America after nearly 3 years. We’ve made great friends and have definitely cemented roots here. Liverpool is an amazing city and we’ll always be fond of it. Here’s a quick reflection of one of the videos we had a great time doing during our time in England – right at the Liverpool City Centre. Will miss you Liverpool – no doubt!
(behind the scenes)
It’s always fun to drop a quick impromptu freestyle. The story behind this? On a journey through Wales with one of my best friends, we were atop one of the hills and just dropped it. Who would’ve known it would turn into a track on the debut album, “Rebirth of SOC”
Alert the heathens / that rebirth is needed
This world as we see it / we need to turn and leave it
Yeah the Word we heed it / no disagreement
In church or street then / we raisin’ servant leaders
No work achievements / just perfect Jesus
Not just a prophet see it / a not-for-profit teacher
Yeah I gots to preach it / the Gospel’s meaning
It is very necessary / see Him for who He is
Counselor / Excellent
Demand reverence / creation’s evidence
It’s evident since before then He was present then
Been in control ever since / b’fore Genesis / was ever penned
In all things, the Bible’s relevant
Jesus / believe us / He is / Our reverend
All deeds perfect / One God three persons
Crucify our flesh, yeah indeed it’s worth it
It was great to be invited to Bethel Church in the heart of TueBrook in Liverpool. This event, “Reach,” was a community event in which the entire community was impacted resulting in over 400 people visiting the church and having needs met from food, services, and the true Bread of Life, the Word of God.
SOC was asked to perform the last night, which was the culmination of the entire week of events. What an amazing ministry they have here!
As part of the night – SOC takes a unique and interesting application of the resurrection from Mark’s point of view. We’re praying you might take something away just as the folks at Bridge Chapel did in May 2013
Details: SOC speaks to the young people about Mark 16 (the resurrection) – but from a unique perspective. The study, entitled “Prepare to Be Amazed,” focuses on what we as believers can expect with full-fledged faith in Christ.
It was a great time at Bridge Chapel just this past month where SOC performed most of his new album, “The Narrow Road: 1st Journey.” More importantly, it was a great opportunity to share the Word with the over 100 youth in the building that night. Just click the playlist and listen to all 7 parts of the event that was captured that May evening.
SOC explains the lyrics in the first episode of what will likely be a new series entitled “Decoded.” This song, “New Day” featuring Liverpool’s own Sophie P. is a powerful one focused on how our lives are immediately changed – made new – when we submit to Christ’s call in our lives.
A 2 minute prelude to the new album: “The Narrow Road: 1st Journey.” Here, SOC wrestles with the subject about which we all have questions for which we seek a clear answer – LIFE.
You can now check out SOC’s latest release on youtube. Enjoy!
SOC shares a brief talk just after his performances to at Bridge Chapel. The focus was on the right resolutions for 2013. There’s no better place to start than with Matthew 5:33. Take a quick listen as SOC explains an equation for us all to live by as we work through the year.
